Available at the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC) on the side of Phusi mountain, next to Dara market, and at Monument Books. Also at Big Tree Cafe, on the riverbank, and at Tamarind, a great authentic restaurant.

L.O.D.>The only thing I ate cooked in a Lam is coconut rice.<

In all fairness, this is Cambodian food, rather then Laos, and maybe not even regular Cambodian, but Ethnic Bunong food. But the cooking method is the same a Khao lam. I'd be interested to hear if any Lao reading this know of any other dishes cooked this way in Laos.

I have now changed the photo, and put the Thai basil photo where it should have been posted, under Sweet basil, Thai or Sweet basil. Its a close up of the bunch of basil above it.

Gee, from the post photo, it looks like you are so right, as it has red stems and the leaves look like Boulapha as well. Nothing at all like Holy Basil, and it doesn't match the description either. Duh! I'll change the photo today. Thanks for the heads up. I love your site!
